“Warner Bros. is spreading the 3D love again.

The Burbank studio on Thursday revealed plans to release two previously announced 2D pics in 3D: “The Green Lantern” and “Sucker Punch.”

Zach Snyder’s action fantasy “Punch” is still set to land in theaters on March 25, 2011, following its move into the third dimension. And Ryan Reynolds starrer “Green Lantern” will light up screens about three months after that, on June 17 of next year.

Warners has gotten more bullish on 3D following Fox’s big payday with “Avatar.” In a pair of previous moves, Warners announced plans to convert action fantasy “Clash of the Titans” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part One” to 3D for release on April 2 and Nov. 19, respectively.

On Thursday, Warners also confirmed it will... (more...)

Feel Banshee Spit Hit Your Face, In Avatar 4-D!

“Forget 3-D, the Koreans are taking the Avatar viewing experience all the way to 4-D. Which means you’ll actually get to feel the spittle from a wild banshee hit your cheek, mid-scream.

According to the Post Chronicle Korea’s Seoul Theater has lined up 25 different special effects to give audiences the full 4-D experience:

The 4D seats in the theater are movie-activated. When there is a scene with sprinkling water, you’ll feel real sprinkling water hit you, and when there are explosives, you will be able to smell them.

This isn’t the first 4-D experience for Korea, the theater has been throwing water in the audience’s faces since Journey to the Center of the Earth. And plan on doing the same thing for Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Lightning Thief.”

9 Best Time Travel Movies

9. Idiocracy

Mike Judge’s little-known follow-up to Office Space follows a military underachiever and a prostitute that have been accidentally frozen for hundreds of years. Through a voiceover that explains how only stupid people have kept breeding, our stars (Luke Wilson and Maya Randolph) emerge in the future to find themselves the smartest humans on the planet. The dystopia is taken to its most extreme conclusions, and can be thought of as a Beevis and Butthead type of Wall-E. Although it comes up short in a few spots and was mostly released straight-to-DVD, it’s got some great laughs and a premise that might not be too far from the truth.

8. Timecrimes

A 2007 Spanish film and sleeper hit when it was released in the U.S. in 2008, Timecrimes is an engaging science fiction thriller about a man who travels one hour back in time.... (more...)

10 more movies Tim Burton should remake

Labyrinth and Sunset Blvd, top the list
“There’s simply no denying that director Tim Burton (“Edward Scissorhands,” “Sweeney Todd”) has a distinctive vision. He also knows how to tell a story–even if, like other eccentrics like Terry Gilliam and David Lynch, Burton’s stories do sometimes take a back seat to the visuals. Still: His movies always make an impression.

That’s why there are plenty of other films besides the new, trippy-looking “Alice in Wonderland” that could use the Tim Burton touch. Which ones?”

AMC Theaters to Boycott Alice in Wonderland

Posted by admin On February - 26 - 20101 COMMENT

“Looks like the inhabitants of Wonderland aren’t the only ones revolting against an evil tyrant. Theatre owners across the world are reportedly none too happy about Disney’s recently announced plans to push the DVD release date of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland up to within 12 weeks of the theatrical run, and they’re doing something about it. Disney hopes to increase sales of the DVD by having it out in time for the summer, a full 5 weeks earlier than the usual theatrical-to-DVD release window. In response, several cinema chains have threatened to boycott the film, voicing concerns about a potential loss of big screen revenue.
In the U.K., both Vue Entertainment and Odeon Cinemas have taken up arms, along with four of the major exhibitors in The Netherlands who have already decided not to carry the film. Now AMC in the U.S. is also staring down Disney;... (more...)
